Job summary
The Red Hat EcoSystem Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our projects team. In this role, you will work on multiple product development, proof of concept (PoC), and integrations to solve customers' and partners' problems in multiple verticals, from modernization of datacenters into the hybrid cloud, to edge-based architectures in telecommunication, manufacturing, automotive, and any number of vertical markets. You will be contributing to industry-leading technologies like Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, KubeVirt, and many more. You'll collaborate with multiple Red Hat engineering teams and open source communities around the world, working as part of a geographically distributed team. As a Software Engineer at Red Hat, you'll need to be motivated and curious with a passion for problem-solving, Linux technologies, and open source. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities
- Create new features; contribute to open source projects in Go, Python, or other languages
- Become responsible for the quality of our offerings; write unit, system, or integration tests and participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI) practices
- Participate in architecture and design discussions with peers from within the team and the community
- Work with the Quality Engineering (QE) teams to ensure that projects and features are tested correctly
- Experience developing software with at least one language like Golang, Python, Java, or C or C++
- Experience working in a Linux development environment
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Experienced working in an agile environment
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
The following are considered a plus:
- Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or Openshift)
- Familiarity with storage or networking technologies
- Experience with open source development
- Experience developing in Go
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies
- Experience with cloud-native applications development
- Familiarity or experience working with public cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent working experience
