Job Description

This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided.

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for developing or enhancing test automation using sound, repeatable, systematic and quantifiable approach to test automation on a foundation of industry best practices and in accordance with GM's software development/project methodology (Agile mostly). 

The SDET will contribute to the test effort and will work hands-on writing automation code based on requirements and system specifications. Development activities will include updating and/or developing new automation scripts to test specific functionality 

The role will include estimation, analysis, design, programming, unit/integration testing, whenever applicable. This automation engineer will work in a highly collaborative and increasingly Agile environment and will assume a key role for various new solutions within GM’s GPSC business

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hands-on coding experience with Java, C# or other object-oriented programming languages

Work towards improving test automation frameworks and maintain scalable data sets for testing

Evaluate current test procedures/process and drive optimization

Utilize monitoring and reporting tools like AzDO and drive optimization

Identify quality weaknesses, suggest solutions and drive/initiate change

Build and cultivate relationships with development and business facing teams 

Expertise in testing across various languages and architectures

Interact and collaborate with many teams cross-functionally

Support the delivery of code and features in the shortest period of time without sacrificing quality

REQUIREMENTS:

5+ years of experience as development or test lead required

Working knowledge of test methodologies and process implementation experience

Experience with driving a test automation strategy

Advanced experience of test automation development, CI/CD tools, practices and methodologies

Degree in Computer Science or a related technical

Innovative and strategic thinker with initiative to take action and create positive change          

Must demonstrate exceptional communication and leadership skills
