Senior Technical Specialist

APSI is looking for a Senior Technical Specialist. As the Technical Specialist – Enterprise Monitoring you, in partnership with the product and information technology teams, will create the monitoring standards for the company and help design, build, implement, and ensure that they are always adhered to. In this exciting role, you will be challenged to continuously improve our operational posture and empowered to accomplish.


  • Partner with Product Owners, Software Engineering, and other Technology teams to define and document monitoring standards for existing and new services.
  • Managing on-call rotations and the flow of incoming alerts to ensure that SLA’s are met consistently when issues arise
  • Working with teams to ensure adherence to standards both in existing and future state
  • Creating standard alerting workflows using programs such as NewRelic and Site 24x7
  • Creating and maintaining Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and having a holistic understanding of a broad-ranged product ecosystem
  • Playa key role in the continuous improvement of existing processes such as IncidentManagement, Change Management, and Event Management
  • Participate in company quarterly planning sessions to align on shared deliverables for upcoming quarter
  • Implement and facilitate monitoring and alerting continuous improvement process/program?
  • Stay apprised of emerging best practices and technologies and promote and implement when applicable
  • Work independently in a highly visible, fast paced environment
  • Well versed working with an Enterprise Systems Monitoring team in designing, deploying, and maintaining monitoring across a global organisation
  • Product knowledge of Site 24x7, NewRelic, OpsGenie, Jira Service Management, and a familiarity with a solid change control process as a Configuration ManagementData Base (CMDB) is preferred
  • Understanding and experience with synthetic monitoring is preferred
  • Ability to create training plans and materials, schedule, and implement user training and lead user groups
  • Experience integrating other products into OpsGenie/JSM is a preferred
  • Working with Product and Support teams upskilling them in deploying APM and general use and support of monitoring tools
  • Comfortable presenting to all levels of the business
