A talented software engineer is required to join the Packet Processing Solutions Group - an engineering team spanning sites in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Sweden. The team develops cutting edge products including:

  1. Network search engine solutions

and

  1. Compiler tools for generating packet processing designs

These products are aimed at making Data Centre Networking and Telecommunications solutions more effective. This is a highly strategic and important part of Xilinx’s business, targeting a set of customers that includes the most successful internet and cloud companies in the world.

The role involves the development of Drivers, Compilers, Behavioural Models and Code Development Tools, including all parts of the development flow from requirements to product deployment. The successful candidate will over time gain exposure to all these aspects of the role and will have enormous opportunities for learning and self-development. The position is likely to require some travel for visiting other Xilinx sites.

We are recruiting for a fast learning, dynamic software design engineer with C/C++ experience in embedded and/or kernel driver development in a Linux environment.

This position will offer a strong career path within a fast-paced environment where you will develop your skills working with the latest cutting-edge FPGA technology, tools and next-generation architecture.

Responsibilities include specification and development of Software for use in Linux and embedded products.

 

Years of Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with 5+ years’ experience in C/C++ and embedded software systems

Skills/Experience

  • Experience with C/C++
  • Experience with software development in a Linux environment
  • Experience in low level driver development, register interface programming, general algorithms and data structures
  • Experience with embedded processors such as Arm architecture
  • Experience with industrial standard devices e.g. Ethernet, PCIe, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO and Memory architectures DDR/SDRAM/DMA
  • Experience in high performance compute, storage or network acceleration is an advantage
  • Scripting language experience like Perl, Python or TCL is an advantage
  • Datacentre, Wired or wireless telecommunications experience is an advantage
  • Experience in HDL/SystemVerilog design on FPGA platforms is an advantage

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Computer or Electronic Engineering or similar qualification
  • Masters or Ph.D. in Computer or Electronic Engineering is a distinct advantage
  • Track record of high academic achievement
