Senior Slack Systems Engineer

The Senior Slack Systems Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and administration activities of Salesforce’s Slack Enterprise Grid. You are well-versed in all aspects of administering and solutioning for Slack Enterprise Grid, and have expert-level knowledge of both engineering and operations.

Our ideal candidate should have an understanding of the full life-cycle of cloud-based services, with a keen interest and ability to challenge the status quo and deliver best-in-class solutions.

In this role, you will work directly with business stakeholders, product managers, engineers, vendors, and developers to accomplish the goals set forth within your domain. We are relatively early in our Slack journey, and you will have plenty of opportunities to shape what the ideal Slack-first ecosystem can be for a Grid of over 70,000 members. By leveraging the latest and greatest in cloud collaboration and thinking outside the box, you will be directly responsible for figuring out how our organization should continue designing, implementing, and innovating towards a best-in-class Slack instance for Salesforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult and perform workspace migrations for acquired domains and legacy workspaces
  • Define and iterate on standards to help refine our governance model for Slack
  • Identify manual tasks and complex processes that could be key opportunities for automation, then take lead on making those automations a reality
  • Lead consistent engagements with our tier one support SMEs to keep a pulse on problem trends, providing elevated assistance to build solutions or escalate to appropriate channels
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members
  • Partner with our Security, Identity Access Management,
  • Maintain central code repository for automation
  • Custom app/bot release management
  • Work regularly with Center of Excellence team to help drive requirements and solutions for enterprise-wide enhancements
  • Find the best balance of security requirements and user experience
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience
  • 5+ years experience as a developer or cloud systems engineer/administrator in a high-growth, enterprise environment, owning company-wide cloud applications and productivity tools for the organization
  • Slack Administration experience
  • Excellent documentation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com’s service offerings and product landscape
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise cloud architecture and design
  • Fluent in leveraging APIs and scripting languages (primarily Python and Powershell) for automation
  • Demonstrated success with continuous improvement, drive for efficiency, and process optimization to deliver solutions at scale
  • Knowledgeable of Lean/Agile development and comfortable working within a team utilizing these methodologies
  • Ability to formulate tactical and strategic design, making sure that there is synergy with the overall strategy in your vertical of responsibility
  • Ability to mentor, empower, and inspire team members and stakeholders in achieving a clear and common goal
  • Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills with varying types of audiences, ranging from technical peers to executive leadership
  • Proven track record of successfully leading projects from concept to completion
