Data Security/ Compliance

Senior Security Engineer

Who we are: Amazon Security is on the cutting edge of many security issues for a wide variety of platforms and technologies including cloud services, Internet of things (IoT), identity and access management, mobile devices, virtualization and custom hardware, all operating at massive scale. Our team drives large scale, long-term programs across all of AWS. We dive deep into questions about security, focusing on the really big initiatives that require new thinking and creative, innovative solutions. We work with engineers, collaborating to deliver the right results for our customers. Our purpose is to define the innovative preventative, detective, and monitoring mechanisms to enable security at scale.

Who you are: You are a creative, collaborative leader who likes to be close to the details. You are someone who's excited about cloud security. You like to get inside technology, understanding how things work, when to make subtle change, and when to disrupt the status quo to achieve the right results. You’re someone who prioritizes effectively and often. You’re a catalyst, influencing positively across diverse teams to rally support for your initiatives. You dig in with technical teams to innovate and build solutions to meet goals. You’re adept at communicating about your designs, solutions, and some of the deeply technical security domains in ways that build trust with both engineers and business leaders.

What you will do: You'll leverage your knowledge in multiple domains to investigate, understand, develop, and deliver elegant solutions to complex security questions. You'll bring your high standards, applying the right technologies while following security engineering best practices. You will be a security thought leader for our team and Security, owning a set of long term security outcomes. You're also someone who will be setting the bar high for your colleagues, serving as a mentor to your teammates. Day to day, you'll be doing things like developing, processing, and analyzing data sets to investigate security areas of interest, working to design tools and security controls, supporting design reviews for developer tools to ensure that security objectives are met, and working across engineering teams to refine your plans and obtain buy-in to your solutions.

Why it matters: Security works to identify threats and solutions to security challenges at scale. We want to continue to strengthen the security flywheel by delivering solutions and mechanisms that help our engineers build securely as simply as possible.

Why you'll love it: We are working on really hard problems and moving very fast. You will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, and developing solutions for complex security questions. You'll have the chance to exercise your skills and knowledge in domains where you're expert and build your skills in domains where your curiosity is strong. You will have the opportunity to learn from, and be mentored by, those who are building and securing our cutting-edge services.

Inclusive Team Culture: Here at Amazon, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and we host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 16 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

Work/Life Balance: Our team puts a high value on work-live balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfilment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

Mentorship & Career Growth: Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews.
