Senior Project Manager

Job Description

Responsible for managing multiple projects or multiple workstreams within a complex project. Team manager responsible for direct reports of 1-2 staff. A Project Manager requires high flexibility and agility as the PM will navigate work for multiple teams (business, stakeholders, customers) spanning multiple time zones. Work with project teams in many aspects of project management, including planning, tracking, reporting, documentation, communication, and issue resolution under guidance. Generally works on moderate to large complexity projects.

 

Location: Arklow or Dublin, Cherrywood (Hybrid)

  • Directs and monitors project activity for an assigned functional area and team, this would include working with key stakeholders to identify project goals, gain consensus on next steps, project schedule, key milestones, implementation, go to market processes and estimated project costs
  • Fosters cooperation and involvement across key stakeholders, and ensure alignment across senior leadership team of critical milestones and critical path to achieve.
  • Interviews users to identify and analyse needs; develops a project plan and provides input to recommendations for request and/or problem resolution.
  • Identifies internal and/or external resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Prepares project status reports; makes alterations in project plan as needed.
  • Assists with or prepares project implementation steps and documentation as appropriate; ensures a smooth implementation of project; resolves problems.
  • Participates in training users as applicable.
  • Participates in project evaluation against estimated plans and costs; provides continuing support and service as required.
  • Manages performance of project team, and evaluates overall performance.
  • As each of these areas are newly formed this person will also have responsibility for forming the basis for their methodological approach to the work, deliverables, standards, meeting forums, key stakeholder identification and management, and continuous improvement activities.
  • If technical delivery is a dependency of assigned scope, collaborate with TOS and Value Stream leads to ensure alignment on business delivery plans. This may require understanding the tech delivery plans and timelines across multiple value streams.
  • Manage activities across Business (non-technical) teams and departments including identifying and reporting new project risks and issues as required. Work with initiative stakeholders to create and implement mitigation plans to resolve identified risk and issues.
  • Identify Benefit Realization owners to ensure full understanding of project benefit and how the benefits will be measured.

 

Competencies and experience required:

  • 10+ years related project management experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling business and technical projects
  • Responsible for managing project activities for assigned business lines or for a major project that crosses several business lines.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex matrix organisations and gain comprehensive knowledge of assigned business lines or functional areas
  • Experience in managing complex projects (projects often require several months to be completed).
  • Experience working with senior business line management to formulate project scope
  • Proven ability to build lasting relationships, motivate teams, resolve conflicts and deliver against expectations.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge and working experience of project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Fluent English is required; knowledge of other European language will be an advantage
  • Good technical knowledge and skills in general, and proven working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and problem solving fast paced and in highly pressured situations
  • Excellent time management and personal organization skills
  • Be a team player in a global team, with the ability to act independently but collaboratively in virtual project teams
  • Highly organized, good at multi-tasking and good attention to detail.

Qualifications Required to perform your Role?

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree
  • A project management certificate (PRINCE2 or PMI) or Six Sigma and experience with MS Office would be an added advantage.
