Who we're looking for
We are looking for an engineering leader who has experience running complex data privacy initiatives in medium to large organizations. This person will build and lead our new data privacy organization initially tasked with implementing Bring your own Key/Hold your own key (BYOK/HYOK) for Zendesk.
What you’ll be doing
Building and leading a data privacy team. Overseeing the technical work in your own group as well as partnering closely with product teams to drive critical data privacy initiatives. Early initiatives are focused on BYOK/HYOK but will expand to additional teams and other privacy/security concerns.
Participating as a senior leader in the larger Core Services Engineering organization.
Hiring, developing, and mentoring other leaders and engineers within Zendesk Core Services.
Collaborating with Product Management on a shared vision and roadmap. You will be influencing product vision based on your familiarity with the data privacy space.
Participate in our regular planning process, along with providing updates to senior product and engineering leadership.
In partnership with senior technical contributors, develop and deliver on the teams' technical roadmaps.

Required experience:
3+ years in engineering leadership.
2+ years of previous software development
Previous experience leading engineering for a business unit, partnering with business owners and product management, PMO, and other engineering organizations
Preferred requirements:
Prior experience in security and data privacy space
Familiarity with encryption generally and BYOK/HYOK specifically. relevancy, infra such as Elasticsearch, and information retrieval systems
