Senior Systems Engineer – Cloud DevOps
Verizon Connect has an immediate need for a Senior Systems Engineer with AWS Cloud deployment experience to join our existing team of Systems Engineers within the Development Operations team.
- Facilitating the deployment, maintenance and performance tuning of our award winning SaaS application.
- Helping us migrate from on-premise data centre infrastructure to an entirely cloud native infrastructure.
- Delivering world class cloud engineering and DevOps support.
- Monitoring performance, troubleshoot systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, patching, collaborating with System Engineers & Architects on optimization.
- Providing on call support for the Development Operations team in an outage situation.
- Working as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to timelines.
- Ongoing maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation.
- Designing and maintaining IAM security policies within AWS.
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
- Proven experience working with Amazon Web Service technologies.
- Proven experience as Systems Engineer in a Windows/Linux environment.
- Experience of troubleshooting experience on all aspects of the Networking Stack.
- Experience of working in an operating system agnostic infrastructure.
- Experience in designing and implementing Cloud based infrastructure in AWS.
- Proven experience in the automated deployment of infrastructure and services using Cloud formation in AWS.
Even better if you have:
- Current AWS Solutions Architect, Sysops and DevOps certifications are a distinct advantage.
- Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation.
- A good understanding of the principles/methodologies and tools used in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using Opsworks/Chef.
- Communications skills to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical).
- Experience setting up and maintaining AWS Cloudwatch.
- In-depth knowledge of designing and deploying highly available solutions in AWS using VPC’s and Route53.
- Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience automating operational tasks in at least one of the following: Powershell, Python, BASH.
- Experience of configuration management system based on Ansible, writing playbooks.
