Senior Cloud Operational Governance Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior or Principal Cloud Operational Governance Engineer to join our team.  As a member of the Cloud Governance team you will be responsible for implementing the Operational Governance guidelines and policies that you will also help to define. You will work closely with our engineering, finance, security, 3rd party cloud providers, and business operations teams to help create the tools and processes that will guide us into a more robust and secure cloud future.  You will be helping us to define and execute on our overall asset tagging strategy, cloud service auditing, account lifecycle processes, cloud inventory management, and many other exciting projects that you have yet to define.  As we expand further into the cloud your role will expand with it and so will your reach across all of Workday.

Basic Qualification:

  • 5+ years experience working in cloud engineering.
  • Operational experience with AWS relating to governance and compliance in the cloud.
  • 2+ years experience writing code in Python, Go, Java, or similar language.

Other qualifications: Both levels

  • Strong interpersonal communication for working with internal and external contacts.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouses and querying large datasets.
  • Ability to research issues, new technologies, and effectively communicate findings
  • Practical experience with on premises to cloud application migrations.
  • Experience auditing cloud deployments for cost and usage efficiencies and wastage.
  • DevOps Experience.
  • Financial Operations (FinOps) Experience.
  • AWS Certification.
  • GCP Certification.
