SAP Development Lead

We are embarking on an eight-year global Business Transformation programme enabled by SAP S/4HANA. This is a greenfield implementation for Sandvik, a large Swedish multinational group. There is an ongoing business digitalisation initiative which we call the “Seamless Flow” - initiative. We will create a SAP Centre of Excellence (CoE) with responsibility to support the business programs and manage the application thereafter.

We are now recruiting for a SAP Development Lead (P4) for a permanent role in our Dublin or Tempere Office.

JOB PURPOSE

The SAP Development Lead will be responsible for ensuring any SAP development follows best practice principles and standards. Responsible for delivery of SAP Developments managed by the SMR IT Delivery organization as well as oversight of program enhancements involving SAP development.

The role will work within the SMR IT Delivery organization but will also have direct input into the large transformational programs currently underway.

We are looking for a senior developer able to manage vendors and provide leadership and guidance to both program and support teams who can define principles and clearly communicate development standards to team members and program resources.

You have the capability to analyse user requirements to determine ERP system configuration and customization. Configures, implements, maintains and upgrades ERP application modules (e.g. Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain Management). Evaluate business requirements and suggest solutions including time- and cost-estimations when required. Understand business processes/requirements and design solutions for identified gaps. Provides ongoing ERP support by e.g. processing of incidents, problems and requests Creates outline solution and writes functional requirements/specifications, develops test plans, and works with production issue.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the SAP functional leads and business stakeholders on requirements, targets, and processes turning them into IT solutions & services.
  • Define development principles
  • Document and communicate to all project and business / IT stakeholders
  • Ensure that the solution produced is fit for purpose and appropriate for the business requirements.
  • Ensure project design principles are adhered to throughout all phases and they follow the system architectural strategy and guidelines.
  • Support activities required to procure IT products (where required)
  • Support the detailed design process and ensure the integrity of the end to end solution is maintained
  • Support the business and SMR IT Delivery leads in understanding the technical constraints of any proposed solutions or solution options
  • Liaise with product vendors and SMR IT as required to address any issues with a solution
  • Review and assess the value of all development proposed to standard products by the design teams
  • Review key detailed design documents and feedback comments to workstreams (e.g. Business Process Designs, Functional Specifications)
  • Mentor and develop IT team members actively sharing knowledge to develop and broaden our internal expertise
  • Define and implement the solution development quality assurance approach and plan

ou are a highly motivated, delivery focused self-starter with a data-driven mindset and excellent problem solving capabilities. You have a can-do attitude and thrive on working in a multi-cultural team environment. You have excellent inter-personal skills and strong communication skills with an ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You are customer focused and collaborate effectively with others to find optimal solutions to business needs. You are hands-on and have 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role preferably in S/4HANA reporting technologies and Fiori Apps. You have a broad understanding of a range of functional areas in SAP. You are educated to degree level or equivalent.
