Network Engineer - Infrastructure Operations

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Work and grow in a collaborative distributed team, sharing responsibility for maintaining the uptime of Workday’s production and development environments.
  • Contribute to the development of software solutions by employing an Infrastructure-as-code model to build, scale, monitor, maintain and improve the operational support of our rapidly growing server infrastructure.
  • Grow our efficiency by eliminating toil through automation.
  • Work closely with internal teams and our customers to help resolve complex incidents.
  • 5+ years demonstrated ability supporting sophisticated large scale networks.
  • Familiarity with how to perform build automation and provisioning tasks through terraform, chef, ansible, k8s, etc. Familiarity with HashiCorp tools such as Consul and Vault.
  • Highly proficient in at least one of the following functional languages: Ruby, Go, C, Java, or Python. Ability to transfer tacit knowledge of one language to another within a reasonable period.
  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 Production environment, preferably across multiple data centres.
  • Understanding of enterprise level thinking with regards to security, scalability, performance, monitoring, reliability, documentation, root cause analysis and capacity-trending.
  • Extensive knowledge of Juniper, Cisco and F5 products Large scale LAN/WAN/Backbone/ISP environment experience.
  • Solid grasp of BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, CDN, and related networking concepts.
  • Outstanding analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and tasks, make decisions and solve problems
  • Ability to prioritise/organise your work efficiently.
  • Good interpersonal skills to self-lead your day-to-day activities and establish relationships with the extended organisation
