Lead Cloud Network Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical requirement analysis focused on Internet transported, secure data communications.
  • Implementation of data network architectures including integration of applications, services, and system infrastructure components.
  • Identify operational weaknesses within network infrastructure and present cost-effective plans to address them.
  • Coordinate with monitoring teams to react and address real-time network conditions.
  • Document work activities through daily use of ticketing systems and formal change control to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain system documentation in diagrams, databases, and written descriptions.
  • Regularly interact with other team members in troubleshooting, service deployments, changes to live environments, and general knowledge sharing.
  • Leverage company training resources to explore new and evolving technologies in data network system delivery.
  • Automation of repetitive and complex network engineering tasks.
  • Active participation in team meetings, project planning sessions, and real time group maintenance activities.
  • Procurement tasks including component research, quote solicitation, and purchase recommendations.
  • Regular work with other OpenText technical teams to optimize consumption of network resources, understand problems, and deliver better service to end users.

Experience Required

 

8+ years’ experience with data networking technologies, protocols, equipment, virtual constructs, and architectures.

Real world experience employed by an Internet service provider, telecommunications carrier, or similar enterprise scale network operation.

Experience with virtualized network functions included in VMWare products and/or a public hyperscaler such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Understand and be able to explain the 7-layer OSI network reference model.

Experience with configuration and maintenance of network equipment from multiple vendors, including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Extreme, Brocade, HP, F5, A10, Checkpoint, Palo Alto.  (Not all are required; we would like to see that you have experience with some of these names)

Understanding of Ethernet framing, forwarding, aggregation, and loop protection mechanisms.

Experience with deployment and maintenance of high availability mechanisms at multiple layers of the OSI network model.

Understand and be able to explain IPV4 subnetting and routing.

Extensive experience with at least two of the following dynamic routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, RIP

Experience with IP network security technologies including stateful firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, application proxies, and encrypted VPN.

Experience with SNMP for enterprise network management tasks.

Understand and have experience with distributed role-based access control systems as applied to network infrastructure

Ability to program in an administrative scripting language.  This should include at least one of the following:  ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, expect, bash, perl, python.

Knowledge and experience working with ITIL processes
