WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

• You will be part of an agile team to improve the customer experience on Zalando’s site
• Work on interdisciplinary projects connecting data science, engineering and business domain knowledge
• Develop automated, scalable data pipelines using Python, PySpark/Databricks, AWS & Kubernetes
• Create production environments to test, deploy and monitor ML models
• Monitor & troubleshoot our production systems
• Align rollouts with data scientists and commercial stakeholders
• Create highly scalable solutions where you own the entire development cycle
• Own and operate the services you build, including monitoring, open telemetry, maintenance, load-testing, capacity planning.
• Contribute to the tech community within the department; help to improve documentation of the code, infrastructure and appliances you are working with

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Strong grasp of CS fundamentals as well as an ability to leverage them in solving complex problems
• Good communication skills 
• Experience designing, developing, deploying and operating software
• Experience with continuous delivery and peer-reviewed pull-request contribution model
• Hands-on experience using Python, Java or Scala in a production environment
• Motivation to work in a cross-functional environment with constant exchange between product, data science and engineering. You are not purely focused on coding but also eager to understand the bigger picture and the why behind the what. You make technical complexity understandable for the business.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS

• Experience with functional programming, especially Scala 
• Any experience with streamed event processing is a plus
• Knowledge of AWS core services, Kubernetes, Spark, Jupyter Notebooks, Statistics and Machine Learning would be a bonus
• Experience with designing RESTful APIs
