IT Lab Support Engineer

We are currently looking for an IT Engineer to work for a contract role for a client of ours based in Cork. This role will be an onsite role providing PC and infra smart hands assistance to the local team during the commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a point of contact for the 3rd party SMEs that come on site for implementing the lab systems. This SME is often a specialist related to the physical equipment, less acquainted with PC's and often needing support from a local person with PC admin rights and with knowledge on the company's PC related policies.
  • Be a point of contact for the 3rd party software vendors where the lab systems require the installation of a 3rd party software. For this responsibility the engineer will be the person that will be in contact with the software vendor support team to report challenges encountered, to provide information they ask for and to execute instructions as received by the software vendor support team to resolve issues.
  • Very disciplined person understanding the importance of documenting and reporting on any activity he/she undertakes in coming to a working environment.
  • Very disciplined person understanding the importance of complying with corporate policies and with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Very disciplined person that understands that solutions for issues encountered not linked to the lab system commissioning, can only be solved following the documented solutions and standards.
  • Experience with diagnosing W10 issues encountered during the installation and use of an application on a W10 PC (knowledge on how to search and edit registry keys, searching Windows event logs, …)
  • Good basic network (TCP/IP) knowledge allowing to understand how an application installed on a PC communicates with other components in a corporate network.
  • The engineer must be able to work independently and as such should in a timely manner on his/her own initiative reach out in a timely manner for receiving help and guidance if issues are encountered.
