Our Infrastructure Specialists are responsible for keeping up with these latest and greatest of these changes and using their expertise to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our customers and products.

Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Cloud provides a suite of options for clients requiring a cloud database service.

IBM Cloud Databases provides managed Open Source databases within the IBM Cloud. Including Redis, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Mongo, Cassandra, MySQL, and etcd designed to enable clients flexibility to utilize the database most appropriate for their specific use case, as and when it’s needed.

A successful applicant will become part of a global team dedicated to providing exceptional development and support for the live Managed Services offered within the IBM Cloud service. Candidates for this team will specifically be responsible for maintaining the quality and availability of an individual Public Region utilized by one of IBM’s biggest customers. This will include maintenance of the service infrastructure (Kubernetes, Python, PagerDuty, RBACs, User management ) alongside creative development project contributions that deploy to live service environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Hold the front line pager on rotation
Be accountable for working operational tasks through to completion
Create/Develop operational tooling
Develop/contribute code to the service and Open Source projects (E.g. Apache CouchDB)
Triage operational issues to appropriate experts/teams where necessary
Collaborate directly with the various engineering and customer facing teams to help resolve issues

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Linux systems – Acquired
  • Experience in any of: JavaScript, Python, Golang, Ruby, Erlang, Java – Acquired
  • Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
