Global Strategy and Operations Consultant

The Global Strategy & Operations Consultant will work within the Global Strategy team in one of Optum’s critical global business units, working on strategic global operations initiatives and organizational alignment projects that attempt to better leverage global locations to deliver critical capabilities for UnitedHealthcare and Optum businesses.  This role will work closely with the Ireland Strategy Office and our internal international success partners to deliver on key strategic priorities within Optum Ireland and global operations. This person will cultivate and maintain relationships with key business leaders across UnitedHealth Group

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify & analyse business opportunities (financial, analytic, process, organizational alignment, etc.)
  • Formulate, review, and edit operating model deliverables for global operations including, but not limited to: process diagrams, organizational charts, RACI models, hiring plans, etc.
  • Develop frameworks and contribute to key performance metrics analysis and operational projections for global operations
  • Support organisational change and transition planning
  • Manage project plans for global operations expansion projects
  • Prepare for and support facilitation of executive meetings and planning sessions
  • Support identification of best practices in program management, global delivery model execution and coordinate adoption
  • Develop frameworks to assist in global operations strategic planning
  • Draft and edit program status reports
  • Liaise with US-based and global team members to discuss global programs and inform key stakeholders regarding global strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrate leadership in the ability to cultivate internal and external relationships
  • Interview key operational leaders to understand operations processes, key risks, opportunities
  • Create ties to US-based business leaders for Optum Ireland businesses

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field (economics, business, finance, accounting, engineering, etc.)
  • Work experience in finance, insurance, managerial consulting, healthcare consulting, health insurance, PBM, or other relevant industry
  • Experience in a program / project management capacity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to or knowledge of corporate tax & accounting principles (ex: Transfer Pricing)
  • Exposure to analytics techniques / tools (Tableau visualization, etc.)
  • Proven ability to solve varied and complex business problems
  • Highly collaborative and consultative style; Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels, including with senior executives
  • Experience working in a high change/matrixed organization
