Essential Duties and Responsibilities

On behalf of DTS/Xperi, participate in industry standardization activities with 2 strategic goals: 

  • Establish Xperi technologies in the technical standards and industry consortia publications that are impactful to Xperi business
  • Maintain a continuous awareness of industry trends that impact the Xperi business verticals (Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Content creation, Pay TV)

In furtherance of these goals, the successful candidate will participate in regular internal meetings with manager and peers to discuss Xperi standards and consortia participation. The candidate will, in harmony with company priorities, determine appropriate levels of standards and consortia participation, help define specific goals and schedules. In concert with these regular meetings, the successful candidate will participate in assigned standards and industry consortia activities. Such participation will include travel, which may be substantial, to various f2f meetings and events, and may also include serving in leadership roles, such as editor, secretary, or chair/vice chair positions.

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline
  • Experience engaging with or applying international standards, consortia, or industry forums, at a senior level
    • Preferably 10+ years technical customer facing or standards bodies
    • Track record of successfully bringing new technologies to the market
    • Demonstrate deep commercial sensitivity and awareness in interacting with third parties to achieve Xperi goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel
  • Experience interacting with senior executives and technical team members such as motion picture studios and other content service providers, distributors/retailers, technology systems providers, and consumer electronics manufacturers
  • Experience working in an international and distributed workplace environment
  • Background in either, consumer electronics development, streaming services, computer/mobile networking, or media production industries
  • Technical skills sufficient to review and contribute to the development of technical specifications
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Willing to travel frequently and regularly to meetings in domestic and international locations
  • Willing to work in multiple time-zones to achieve company objectives
  • Able to work in a team environment, and independently
