What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Connect has an immediate need for a Senior SystemsEngineerto join our existing team of Systems Engineers within the Development Operations team. This role will help facilitate the development, maintenance, monitoring andsupportof the public and private cloud infrastructure that is the foundation of our award-winning SaaS application. The role will involve delivering enterprise work initiatives and projects as well as optimising the reliability, security, and scalability of our infrastructure operations. You will act as technical liaison between systems team and other operations teams, as well as working with cross-functional teams and architects to provide technical guidance and insight on upcoming implementations and strategies. The role will also require providing technical guidance to more junior systems engineers. The ideal candidate will be a highly competent, results-driven, and a highly self-motivated individual.

The primary responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Designing, planning, and implementing technical solutions in response to project requirements.
  • Owning, tracking, and resolving system incidents and requests.
  • Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.
  • Operation, administration, and automation of services on cloud platforms.
  • Monitoring performance, troubleshooting systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with System Engineers and Architects on any required optimisations.
  • Providing on-callsupportfor the Development Operations team in outage situations.
  • Working as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to timelines.
  • Collaborating closely with Information Security team to define, manage, and implement the security configuration of all infrastructure and systems.
  • Ongoing maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

ou’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies (e.g., AD, Failover Clustering, IIS, DNS, ADFS).
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell).
  • Operational experience with Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of Windows Troubleshooting tools and techniques (Event viewer, Perfmon, SysInternals).
  • Experience with enterprise management tools (e.g., Packer, Salt, Chococlatey, Octopus).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Experience with AWS systems.
  • Experience with Splunk.
  • Experience with Enterprise Monitoring.
  • Experience with Dell Server Hardware.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and scripting languages.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume, agile environment.
  • Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and innovation.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical).
