Database Engineer

Role

Due to our continued growth, Flipdish are currently seeking to bring on board a Senior SQL Server DBA to support their growing infrastructure team. This team ensures that our platform remains available in all countries where we operate. 

The candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the Azure SQL family with recent experience operating highly available production environments.The candidate understands the architectural concepts required of large scale, distributed, consumer facing applications.

What You'll Do

• Design, architect, implement and support our data platform including testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases.
• Participate in and/or lead the requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of database technology solutions.
• Work closely with the technical team to understand the data architecture, existing patterns and schema, technical data management objectives and the structures within the data
• Implementing comprehensive disaster mitigation and incident recovery plans
• Work with the architecture team in planning and implementing platform improvements
• Investigating new technologies and services to allow us to scale across the globe while our products continue to grow

About You

• Extensive DBA experience of Azure MSSQL Enterprise production environment
• Deep knowledge and experience of database replication, disaster recovery, high-availability clustering, backup etc.
• Deep understanding of database tuning and
• Deep understanding of query tuning and
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Strong technical problem-solving (and puzzle-solving) skills

Desirable

• Understanding of metadata management: Data Governance, Data Quality, Lineage, Data Masking etc.
• DP-300 Certification
• Scripting languages experience (e.g. Python, Bash, Ruby, PowerShell)
