Essential duties and responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and document potential data sources in support of project requirements;
- Guide various business departments in appropriate and effective use of data;
- Ability to take data and tell a story/display data in an engaging way;
- Ingesting data from a variety of on premise and online data sources and performing required transformations;
- Develop, design and build meaningful and insightful reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI;
- Data modelling capabilities including designing effective BI data models;
- Publishing reports via the Microsoft Power BI service, managing them using Power Apps and monitoring usage/data refreshes/security access;
- Gather requirements for analytical reports;
- Using data analytics tools and techniques to identify patterns, extract outliers, and perform analyses to address client problems;
- Testing and validating solutions;
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis with visualisation and analytics techniques to solve defined business problems; and
- Keeping abreast of developments across the data and analytics landscape, with the desire to translate the latest techniques and technologies into our project outputs.
Required skills/ attributes
- 4+ years of relevant work experience as a Data Visualisation Manager, or similar role;
- A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Operation Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Management/Business Information Systems (or related degree);
- Ability to translate raw data into meaningful dashboards and reports;
- Ability to design calculations in DAX which are accurate, clear and performant on large datasets and in a variety of contexts;
- Ability to work across functions, data sources and cross-functional teams in order to understand how to locate and use data points effectively;
- Proficiency with project management methodologies and techniques;
- Strong experience with the development lifecycle of data reports and dashboards;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to explain technical analysis to a non-technical audience;
- Ability to run workshop with clients, gathering requirements and translating them to scoping documents;
- Ability to write procedure documents and conducting training; and
- Engaging with key stakeholders and relaying information in a way that is easy to understand and provides commercial (not just process orientated) insights.
Desirable skills/attributes:
- Recognised project management qualifications, such as PRINCE 2, Lean Six Sigma, etc;
- Proven experience in other analytics and BI platforms e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, IBM Cognos, SAP BusinessObjects;
- Experience in the following industry sectors will be of specific interest: energy/utilities, life sciences and healthcare; and
- Azure Modern Data Platform and SQL Server Reporting Services knowledge is an advantage.
