Data Scientist

Summary of role:

The Analytics function within the Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence are responsible for leading and driving value from AIB’s data, leveraging a diverse and advanced analytics toolset, to deliver business benefit and inform decision making across the group.  We comprise of a diverse mix of skills, from Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Reporting Analysts and Advanced Analytics Specialists, supporting and enabling internal and external stakeholders.

The Advanced Analytics  function supports all areas across the business who are passionate about developing innovative and sustainable AI and Machine Learning products that deliver measurably high value for the business, and better and fairer outcomes for our customers, colleagues and communities

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Good understanding of machine learning and statistical techniques such as regression, classification models and clustering.Ability to articulate data science concepts in business terms, know how to tell a story to highlight key insights, and present analysis effectively to key stakeholders. Capable of clearly presenting findings in oral, written, and graphical formats.
  • Ability to extract technical problem requirements independently.
  • High intellectual curiosity to learn and understand business needs.
  • Preferably a strong background in customer / marketing analytics, building data science products within Financial Services, ideally with good working knowledge of assurance and investments products.
  • Has experience working within an MLOps framework, partnering with ML engineers to deploy, embed and scale machine learning models to deliver multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Excellent social skills to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to share knowledge, communicate findings, and integrate feedback.Effective at working independently and in collaboration with other team members.
  • Able to plan work, set clear direction, and coordinate own tasks in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 2+ years industry experience.
  • 2 years of experience solving problems through modelling, measurement, and data analysis.
  • Expertise in Machine Learning libraries in Python such as: Scikit Learn, Keras, TensorFlow.
  • Experience in the Pydata stack: Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, PySpark is a Plus.
  • Experience in Cloud Computing services (e.g. Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of relational database technologies such as Teradata, or MySQL with strong SQL execution and optimisation skills.
  • Experience creating visualisations and dashboards in Power BI, Tableau or Qlik.
  • Familiarity with software best practices, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new programming languages as needed.
  • Knowledge of SAS would be an advantage.
