What you’ll be doing...

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join the Data Products organization. The successful candidate will join an expanding Data Warehouse team, in charge of managing the VZ ConnectData Platform. Our Data Warehouse stack is built on AWS for data storage, SSIS/Glue for ETL and Tableau for data visualization.

• Actively break down tasks, provide estimates and track and manage requirements, dependencies and progress of assigned stories in Jira.
• Create and maintain entity relationship diagrams and source to target mappings.
• Enter and maintain Metadata in data cataloging tools.
• Develop and maintain ETL pipelines from internal and external sources all the way through to S3 and Redshift.
• Develop and maintain ETL workflows orchestrated on AWS with Apache Airflow.
• Create and maintain the assigned pipelines across Dev, Test and Prod environments (supported by CI/CD engineers)
• Ensure all developed solutions include unit tests and integration with the team's test suite.
• Ensure proper monitoring of all developed production applications.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another IT related subject, or relevant work experience.
• Experience of programming with T-SQL orPG-SQL.
• Experience of working with Redshift and S3.
• Knowledge and experience of Python Programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and knowledge of best practices for them.
• Experience of working with with automated CI/CD tools and patterns.
• Experience of working with Tableau and familiarity with other BI visualization tools, especially within self-hosted AWS implementations.
• Willingness to travel.

• Master’s degree in IT related subject.
• Experience working with Agile and Lean methodologies.
• Documentation skills, with ability to create Entity Relationship Diagrams and Source to Target mappings.
• Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration & ingestion tools.
• Experience working with SSIS ETL tool.
• C# development experience.
• Experience with Hadoop framework, EMR, Spark development.
• Experience implementing and using Enterprise Data Catalog tools.
• Experience with APM solutions.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability and experience to coordinate and work effectively with multiple internal team members.
