Department Description: 

The Global Shared Services (GSS) team is responsible for Salesforce's Global Shared Services organization including strategy, performance management, reporting, escalation management, data analytics, process/project management, systems and policies servicing several Salesforce.com business units including but not limited to Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, Customer Success, Legal, Compliance, Sales and Marketing. The role will report to the Sr Manager, Business Intelligence within Global Shared Services (GSS) and will be managing a team of shared services employees globally. Salesforce.com is a fast-paced environment and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running to manage multiple responsibilities and projects while producing high-quality work.

Role description: 

As the Data Engineer role within the Global Shared Services and Office of Transformation group at Salesforce, you will work cross-functionally with business stakeholders throughout the organization to analyze data integration needs, understand processes and policies that impact our data quality, design and implement solutions to improve and scale Salesforce’s data integration needs. This individual must excel in data analysis, process improvement, building relationships in business and IT functions, problem-solving, and communication. S/he must act independently and own the implementation and impacts of assigned projects, and demonstrate the ability to be successful in an unstructured, team-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with large, complex data sets, experience in the technology industry, exceptional analytical skills, and experience in developing technical solutions.

Responsibilities: 

  • Architect, build and maintain scalable automated data pipelines ground up. Be an expert of stitching and calibrating data across various data sources
  • Create functioning ETL solutions to address quickly changing business needs
  • Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures
  • Support regular ad-hoc data querying based on stakeholder needs.
  • Build new and add features to existing solutions in Google App scripts & Salesforce API to integrate data from several data sources and improve mapping automation
  • Support the global business intelligence agenda and processes to make sure we provide consistent and accurate data across the organization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computing or any related field,.
  • 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, big data analytics or equivalent position
  • Experience with developing robust and tested Python applications to support the data warehouse
  • Strong background in Data Warehousing concepts and schema design
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (Salesforce Einstein, Tableau, etc) 
  • Strong problem solving with acute attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Salesforce Products 
  • History of designing, building and launching extremely efficient & reliable data pipelines to move data (both large and small amounts) throughout a Data Warehouse.
  • Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written. 
  • Team player with the ability to think independently and consider cross-functional and downstream impacts
  • Passionate about striving for relentless improvement
  • Flexible working schedule with late night/early morning support hours if needed
  • Experience working for shared services organizations, major outsourced providers or management consulting firm
  • Ability to travel internationally when required (up to 10%)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with ETL tools (Tableau Prep, Alteryx.) and RDBMS & MPP databases (Redshift, PostgreSQL, Snowflake), with ability to optimize queries for high volume environments to build and maintain data pipelines
  • Experience in working with data related to daily functions of a Shared Services organization (e.g. incident ticket volume, ticket response and resolution time, spend, customer satisfaction)
  • Understanding of Procure to Pay or Order to Cash and business systems (Oracle, Coupa, Salesforce platform) a Plus
  • Experience in collaborating with remote teams
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and strong influencing and negotiation skills
