Data Engineer - Looker

Our system touches every point of the salon experience. We have the in-salon software desktop application, Phorest Go (the native staff application), online bookings website for salons, and custom native apps per salon. In a typical month, Phorest processes 3 million appointments and we send over 3 million SMS and 4 million emails. We process 200k online bookings per month and over 150 custom built white label native apps.

The Opportunity
We are growing at a massive scale and have the desire as a company to leverage all of the rich data that our system generates to greatly enhance our clients’ salons and transform the industry that we love. You will join the team responsible for putting the infrastructure in place to support that, with the opportunity to input into and shape the future of data at Phorest as we grow.
What you’ll do
Ensuring the right reporting is being delivered on how reports are performing across all channels / funnels / regions. For each segment provide reporting to guide how to adjust and iterate investments based on funnel performance.

Reporting and insights to show which channels are performing (through the lens of the end users / Customer / Marketing / Sales / Finance.

Work closely with the Product and Dev Teams to deliver insights and interpret reports, to ensure alignment

Deliver KPI’s, metrics and insights to key stakeholders through regular meetings and company wide communication

What we’re looking for

  • Proven ability to perform detailed data analysis, providing insights and actionable business solutions to these findings
  • Strong SQL and database knowledge 3+ years of data visualisation experience, preferably with Looker or Periscope Data
  • Deep understanding of Data strategies, funnels and segmentation
  • Commercial awareness with a good understanding of the impact of reports performance through a business lens
  • Experience in developing Looker data models like PDT, LookML automation and demonstrable experience in the configuration of workflows.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - communicating in a clear and simple manner to key stakeholders across the business
  • Have an ‘always learning’ mindset, really trying to deeply understand and learn the business while helping the business to make data-based decisions
  • Pragmatism - you will have the drive and pragmatism to balance the delivery of short term outcomes while planning for longer-term solutions
