The Cloud Platform Engineer (Production Engineering) designs, develops and maintains software components, tools and automation used to operate, enhance and secure production systems running on public cloud infrastructure. You will build software for Workday Adaptive Planning Cloud Operations including automation of production releases, building out new cloud infrastructure, and containerization of product and system services. As an experienced engineer, you will influence long term technical decisions, identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
About the Role
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement substantial software features
- Focus on high availability, scalability, performance, monitoring, maintenance, security, usability and quality requirements
- Migrate existing components to Workday’s cloud platform utilizing Kubernetes and public cloud services
- Solve complex production engineering problems in code
- Review code and designs created by the team
- Adhere to coding best practices and standards
- Identify productivity/efficiency issues and work with the team to implement solutions
- Participate in the on-call rotation
- Proven sense of ownership, customer service, and integrity demonstrated through clear communication and positive action
- 3+ years of experience as a software developer in Cloud Engineering, DevOps or equivalent
- 3+ years of automation software development in AWS, Azure or GCP environment
- Proven knowledge of the Containerization concepts like Kubernetes
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code utilizing tools like Terraform, Jenkins, and AWS API based systems
- Skilled in one or more of the following programming languages - Golang, Ruby, Python, Java
- Skilled in one or more of the following configuration management frameworks - Chef, Puppet, Ansible
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
