ATS Engineering Operations Technician

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking ATS Engineering Operations Technician to support our customers in multiple locations including Herndon VA, Columbus OH, Boardman OR, San Francisco CA, Montreal CA.

We are seeking an energetic person to work in role as the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Operations resource within Amazon data centers. The position will be focused on overall availability and reliability and will meet or exceed defined service levels of the ATS global program. The candidate will assist site engineers (data center operations and data center operation engineering) and the regional ATS Ops manager with daily operational tasks that are specific to the ATS program, IE. Deep dive on rack down events related to “the last meter of power” and ensuring all related data to rack incidents are accurately recorded and reflected in trouble tickets, develop and or guide staff on change management activities to support ATS Firmware upgrades and or ATS hardware replacements, support new construction ATS installations, ATS fleet management and uniformity, ATS vendor management, ATS asset auditing and lastly provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis. The candidate will not only assist in maintaining a high reliability and performance but also keep operating costs in facilities at a minimum while supporting the ATS program. The ATS Ops Engineer is the window into the data center front line and will be called upon to provide updates during large-scale events regarding ATS hardware and peripheral hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Interact and provide support of Facility Mangers and site operation teams not limited to the following training, troubleshooting and support of the ATS Ops program.
  • Ability to direct and lead initiatives/projects related to ATS Program.
  • Able to lead work groups on large-scale projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple vendors at once.
  • Ability to follow accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
  • Ability to maintain SLAs through the implementation of proactive detection, event correlation and reporting.
  • Review and approve Change Management (Work Orders) related to ATS Ops activities.
  • Provide logistics and warehousing support for ATS Ops program.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • An excellent understanding of the electrical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units & PDU units.
  • Has a strong aptitude to solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
  • Experience with documentation development and review.
  • Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactively and continually improve your level of knowledge about Amazon business and relevant technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Min NFQ L7 Electrical/Electronic Degree
  • Proficient working with: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint & Team collaborative software Confluence.
