Vhi Group Service DAC currently have a fulltime permanent vacancy for the role of Senior Platform Engineer (AWS).

This is a unique opportunity to become a lead member of a specialized cross functional team that will manage & support all change on the AWS Cloud Platform. As a Senior Platform Engineer you will be part of a technical team that will be responsible for Deploying, Automating, Maintaining and Managing high traffic, business critical applications that run on the AWS Platform. You will be a key influencer in maturing and evolving our overall operational & infrastructural operating model for AWS.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Be part of the technical team that will be responsible for the reliability of high traffic, business critical applications running on the AWS platform.
• Help the Platform Manager Define & Build out the Platform Operating Model.
• Work to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) & Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
• Design and build monitoring and alerting solutions for AWS to support SLAs and SLOs.
• Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack - platform, application and network.
• Influence development teams to build reliable and scalable applications with resilience and self-healing in mind.
• Work within AWS environment to help optimize the platform and applications.
• Use industry best practices and technologies and translate them into AWS platform best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve practices by automating processes for the team to ensure a high level of value, productivity, quality and reliability.
• Problem & Incident Management - Act in key support role during incident investigation and remediation.
• Work with the Platform team on the operational & infrastructural support for our various Development / Test / Staging & Production environments.
• Administration and Maintenance of specific AWS Services

• Minimum of 7+ Years’ experience in Supporting Enterprise Systems with 2+ Years in a AWS Production Environment with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Deep understanding of AWS and automation concepts, practices and procedures.
• Deep understanding of software\hardware & networking within the AWS Cloud Platform.
• Proven experience working with large scalable, secure and fault tolerant systems.
• Proven experience in Deploying, Automating, Maintaining and Managing Non-Production & Production environments.
• Prove experience in handling and solving system outages.
• Proven experience in implementing monitoring & alerting solutions using automation and observation technologies like NewRelic, Grafana, Helm, Jenkins, Nagios, Prometheus or similar
• Practical experience in container technologies like Kubernetes, and Docker is desirable.
• Practical experience with Windows & Linux administration.
• Practical experience with common protocols (eg. TLS, STARTTLS, SSL, HTTPS, SCP, SSH, SFTP, FTPS).
• Strong Knowledge and experience with cloud security concepts (e.g.  IAM policies, federation, AWS inspector, Security Hub etc).
• Some Experience with programming in Python, Java, Ruby, Scala, Go, or similar programming & scripting  languages.
• Analytical; solves problems at root cause and prioritizes effectively.
